H. Upmann Nicaragua AJ Fernandez Heritage Cigars
The H. Upmann Nicaragua AJ Fernandez Heritage is part of the sought-after H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez brand. Since 2017, globally recognized cigar crafters AJ Fernandez and Rafael Nodal, who is head of product capability for Altadis U.S.A., have collaborated to develop the brand. The Heritage features a binder and filler made of tobacco that was grown on Fernandez’s farms in Nicaragua, which is then covered by a triple-fermented, dark Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper. Once rolled, this excellent blend, coupled with AJ’s superb cigar making techniques, offers a medium to full-bodied smoking experience that must be tried to be believed. The H. Upmann Nicaragua AJ Fernandez Heritage is one box worthy cigar that is handmade in Nicaragua.

One of AJ's top offerings, up there with Dias de Gloria Brazil, Bellas Artes maduro and Ramon Allones. Great appearance, draw is perfect, and the overall taste moves from spice to earth very smoothly. You will enjoy it.

I thought I was not going to enjoy this one. But this one really surprised me. At light up it was really spicy with notes of dark espresso and some earthiness. It was rather strong for my liking. But giving it a chance in the 2nd it really mellowed out and became more creamy milk chocolatey. Very nice. As it went to the final espresso came back a little bitter but not strong. Didn’t smoke it to the nub as it became hot and the notes were overpowered by the heat however I’m still going to give it 5 Stars all around. Great burn and draw. Not one I would go and buy again. The transitions did surprise me pleasantly.

Back to back, Christmas Robusto & Boxing day Toro. I was blown away twice with how well these smoked. A beautiful rich creamy chocolate and enjoyed so much; smoked to the nub. Warms nicely in the 1/3, flavour develops through the 2/3 and carries all the way to the end. Truth be told, I was a little down when I hit the 1.5" mark and let it go out. Goes great with Jim Beam Black and the odd bite of Turkish delight, the added sweetness brings out more flavour if you do draw a breath. I think in the new year I'll stump to a box of these beauties. A couple touch-ups and a re-light with the Toro after an hour break, still fabulous.
